For my project, I want to give our communities youth an
opportunity to participate in a MLB style baseball camp, to help them improve
and develop baseball talents. All growing up baseball was “my sport”, it was
what I loved to do and I always wanted to be at the baseball diamond. The game
of baseball taught me more than how to just hit a baseball or to throw the
ball, it taught me how to be committed, it taught me how to never give up and
to work hard, and mostly it taught me how to work well with others. Baseball is
not a game that you can play alone and be successful. It takes a “Well-oiled
machine” my couch used to say or in other words a team that could work and play
together to win games and rely on one another to do our own little part to make
the whole team successful.
Advertising for the camp was pretty easy. Living in Southern Utah my whole life I have come to know lots of people in our community
so they were the ones I reached out to. I talked to cousins, family and community members that
would want to come and have their teams attend, and I also told those coaches to spread the word to other coaches in their leagues to
come and participate. The rest came pretty easy, using facilities that are free
to the public and my uncle who has ran many camps had any other equipment that
was needed. Keeping in mind that most of the equipment is already owned by the
youth.
