Youth Baseball Camp 2k16
My project was a MLB style baseball camp. The camp was to help youth improve and develop baseball talents in a way that they might not get everyday. All growing up baseball was “my sport”, it was what I loved to do and I always wanted to be at the baseball diamond. The game of baseball taught me more than how to just hit a baseball or to throw the ball, it taught me how to be committed, it taught me how to never give up and to work hard, and mostly it taught me how to work well with others. Along with helping the youth learn baseball I wanted to help them become better individuals too.
Baseball is not a game that you can play alone and be successful. It takes a “Well-oiled machine” my couch used to say. What he meant was a team that could work and play together would win games. Relying on one another to do our own little part to make the whole team successful was something that taught each of us leader ship and also how we could work together to achieve our goals.
My inspiration for my project was simple. I grew up with a great love for the game of baseball, and as a got older I realized how big of an impact it made on me as a person. Having my dad and uncle who would take me to the field any chance we got helped me learn and to get better. As I began playing baseball with my high school team I looked back and thought about all the time that was spent at the baseball field and the lessons I was able to take away from this time. These learning experiences will be something I remember forever and they are also experiences that I would love to share with others.
Like any other event or project there was challenges that made things hard. Some of the challenges were getting a field reserved, even though it was a public field we had to make sure we had it for the camp. Making sure schedules lined up with my uncle was by far the hardest and getting everything lined out for a specific date. Weather as always plays apart in sports, making sure that it wouldn't be too cold or raining was difficult. One last struggle was just making sure that the boys that came got all their gear and getting them all set to go!!
I feel that my project benefited all the boys that got to come and participate. Also the coaches that were able to bring their teams, this helped them be able to get a jump start on their season and help the boys have a good start to their season. My uncle also benefited cause he got to bring his two boys and have them attend the camp and he loves working with anyone who wants to get better at baseball!!
Youth Baseball Camp 2k16 was a huge success!! This camp was so much fun and benefited me in ways I didn't think possible. I was able to learn about each player as they came to the camp, I feel that seeing them have fun and enjoy something that I love brought back memories of when I was their age. Being able to see this made me remember all the great times that baseball brought me and the opportunities that came along with that. This camp was a benefit to me by helping me do something i love and pass it on to the youth!!
"Baseball is more than just a game with a ball and bat, baseball is a game of life, baseball is a game of learning and growing, it makes you mentally and physically strong."
